A shopper at the Supermarket noticed that the same item literally appeared twice on the receipt at a till.

Linh Pham compared the receipt with the items still in the lane. The merchandise matched, but one barcode had been scanned twice.

They confirmed that the double scan was a mistake. The extra charge was directly related to that same barcode; it did not imply that the shopper had taken an extra item.

Linh willingly removed the duplicate charge and returned the difference. She also marked the correction on the receipt so the shopper could see the change.

She recorded the correction in the lane log. The log now shows the barcode, the mistake, and the final amount, so any employee can understand what happened.
